In Guadalajara (Spain), on November 29th, 2012.The President of the Port Authority of Tarragona, Mr. Josep Andreu i Figueras and Mr. Juan Jose Cercadillo Garcia, Presidents of DTL and Hercesa respectively, sign an agreement today for the development of Puerta Centro, one of the main intermodal logistics platform containing all the necessary services for becoming one of the most important Spanish logistics platform within a short time.During the meeting, Mr. Antonio Román, mayor of Guadalajara, has highlighted the importance for the city of the decision taken by the Port of Tarragona. A project that guarantees the viability of such development by providing an exclusive intermodal service thanks to its location and connections. According to the Mayor, something is moving in Guadalajara. This agreement strengthens the trend in job creation in Guadalajara and its environment, and brings very important national and international companies into agreement on the benefits of setting in our city.Mr. Rafael Esteban, Mayor of Marchamalo, and Mr. Josep Andreu, President of the Port Authority of Tarragona, have expressed their happiness because of reaching this agreement, in which the work teams of both abovementioned entities have taken part to bring to conclusion the signing of this agreement. Mr. Esteban said, the local government of Marchamalo will provide all assistance possible to get ahead such important projects for our environment, by offering economic development and new jobs.Puerta Centro - City of Transport, a project promoted by Hercesa and DTL, represents a powerful reference infrastructure for the railroad-intermodal goods transport between ports and the center of the country, covering a total area of 2,2 million m2.The project will promote the transport of goods by railway from and to Spanish ports and Madrid and other central areas of the country because, as it is located outside the suburban train network of Madrid, it is not affected by restrictions of passenger rail traffic. This implies considerable time and cost savings, as well as a greater time guarantee goods-in and goods-out processes.Puerta Centro is a cornerstone of the fulfillment of the objectives set up by the Spanish Ministry of Transport, Communications and Works for having a sustainable mobility, and of the Ministry´s Special Plan of Infrastructures promoting the transport of goods by railway, since 70% of investments will be focused on improving high-speed and suburban railway networks, and the transport of goods. Furthermore, as the project is located in the Corredor del Henares, an upward industrial and economic area near Madrid, it provides an important intermodal logistics infrastructure without affecting the traffic of suburban trains to the city.Hercesa, national leader company in developing logistics and industrial areas, completes the management and customer-advice work successfully, providing accurate solutions to technological and innovative requirements demanded by its customers.
