Hercesa celebrates World Bee Day 2025 by collaborating in the creation of the Budia bee-ninot.
The project, "Three ninot-bees in Solidarity Travel to La Alcarria," has two goals: first, to help rebuild Miriam García Sandemetrio's workshop in Paiporta, and second, to raise awareness of the importance of bees for preserving life on Earth.

With the support of the Guadalajara Beekeepers’ Association and following an idea from the Burbutrices, three towns in the Alcarria region—Pastrana, Budia, and Peñalver—have joined forces to celebrate World Bee Day 2025 with originality and solidarity.
The mayors of these municipalities decided to help rebuild a Fallas workshop in Paiporta that was devastated by the DANA, commissioning their Fallas artist, Miriam García Sandemetrio, to create three small Fallas, or ninots, in the shape of bees. These were installed in their museums on Sunday, May 18, to celebrate World Bee Day.
At Hercesa, we regularly collaborate with the Friends of the Bees Foundation’s pollination apiary in Budia through our Bee-Hogar project. This means that when our customers buy homes, they support the pollination apiary and its ecosystem. Due to our connection with Budia, we also support and sponsor its Bee-ninot, a cute figure that we encourage you to discover at the APIBudia Museum. The Bee-ninot has been “plantà” (installed) in Valencian terminology.
The artistic style of the Ninot Bees is characteristic of their creator. These children’s dolls feature elements that are significant to each locality. The Budia bee ninot has the APIBudia Museum’s symbol on its chest. The Pastrana bee alludes to the Princess of Éboli with her eye patch and ruff. The Peñalver bee ninot is a honey bee with a honey pot and the local coat of arms on its back.
Artistic director and master fallero Raúl Martínez was responsible for bringing the ninot bees from Paiporta. Deeply moved, he expressed his gratitude for the commission, stating, “The DANA affected 21 workshops, six of which were practically destroyed by the water. Initiatives like this are a great help to us in getting back to normal.”
The 3 mayors explained how the project attracted them from the first moment because beekeeping and solidarity with Valencia are values of their territories. Laura Domínguez added that “the idea has a happy ending because the Fallas workshops are recovering and bees generate pure life.” Lola Moreno, a veterinarian from the Beekeepers’ Association explained, “Anything that supports beekeeping is good for La Alcarria because it keeps us on the map, and beekeeping is important for the planet due to the importance of pollination.” Susana Boyano, marketing director of Hercesa, said that “supporting the pollination apiary and the Budia bee-ninot is part of our eagerness, and that of our customers, to create a better world”.
