hi! Real Estate wins Uponor Moving Forward award

The award highlights hi! Real Estates' ability to offer the most innovative solutions for comfort and energy efficiency in its hi! Cañaveral development, an affordable VPPB (Basic Public Housing) development.

Uponor is a Finnish multinational company specializing in solutions for water transport in buildings and invisible radiant surface air conditioning. On the occasion of the Rebuild 2023 fair, the company has announced the results of its competition in which outstanding projects have been selected for their innovation and the sustainability of their facilities.

The hi! Cañaveral development, designed by Solano y Catalán Arquitectos, consists of 1,380 homes whose excellence in offering quality and innovation has been appreciated by the jury when awarding the Uponor Moving Forward prize in its first edition. In short, hi! Cañaveral is a milestone in the constructive improvement of affordable public housing as it is an exclusive set of homes designed with two fundamental objectives; on the one hand, to optimize the conditions of habitability and orientation of the homes for the sake of energy efficiency and, on the other, to improve the environmental conditions of the interior common areas of the block.

hi! Cañaveral structures the block by means of a system of tower-blocks with different housing models with large terraces at the corners. Both the exterior common areas and the atriums that give access to the homes have been carefully designed to make the most of natural light. All framed in a development with a comfortable and versatile urban planning and excellent surrounding communications.

Montserrat Cercadillo, Director of the Real Estate Division of hi! Real Estate and Eladio Catalán, Director of the Technical Division of the company have received the award. “We are grateful for the award granted to us by Uponor because we are very proud to work together to improve the lives of our customers with innovation and efficiency,” said Montserrat Cercadillo.

In addition, Ikasa’s Saddle Restaurant, designed by Estudio Gondra, received the award in the non-residential category. In this case, the fact of taking the gastronomic experience beyond the table with its commitment to sustainability has been valued, being the first restaurant with LEEDR Gold certification and the only restaurant located in a capital of a province that integrates geothermal technology for the air conditioning of the building.

Both projects are part of the Uponor 2023 reference work book, presented and distributed exclusively during Rebuild. The book details 14 projects in which Uponor has actively participated through its services and construction solutions.
