Puerta Centro – Ciudad del Transporte

The main characteristic of Puerta Centro – Ciudad del Transporte lies in intermodality. In addition to the advantage of being able to combine the inherent benefits of the different modes of transport involved, cost is a factor that favors intermodal transport. Work on the future intermodal platform at the Port of Tarragona has already begun and is progressing at a good pace. During the summer of 2024, the last phase, the laying of railway material, began, which will allow the infrastructure to be operational in the summer of 2025. This construction phase will culminate with the terminal’s connections at two points to the ADIF rail network, in the Madrid direction and in the Zaragoza direction. It will consist of the installation of 19 turnouts that will allow all train movements and maneuvers, the construction of 3 loading and unloading tracks for trains up to 750 meters long and 3 dispatch and reception tracks also for trains up to 750 meters long.

This project, which has 90% of the land commercialized, constitutes a robust link in different logistics chains between Madrid and the Henares Corridor, the main Spanish ports (Barcelona, Valencia, Algeciras, Bilbao, Malaga and Cadiz), connections with France, Morocco and Portugal and connections with other major logistics platforms in Spain.

It boasts a strategic location due to its position between the R-2 and A-2 corridors, high-speed train (AVE) lines, proximity to Madrid airport, and the metropolitan axes M-40, M-45, M-50, and Ronda Norte. This enables connections to other modes of transport and also offers the possibility of railway connection
